The Future has quit. After dominating the outlaw soapbox game for well over a year, the future quit under allegations that his car was "hot" with a mess of led melted into the floor of the car, violating the "deliberate weighting" rule enacted in 2008. The Future refused to remove said weight despite many offers by other drivers to help fix the car so it would maintain the same handling characteristics without the weight. He'll be missed. The point is is the anyone can fill their car with weight to overcome bad design, and we strive for better.

2009 Season Completed! Everyone had a blast and only a few of us had to make trips to the hospital this time around. End of season bash planned for January 2010, check back for details.
Mini Moto is over.
We have no plans for mini moto next year. We did it for 3 years and for us at least it's ran it's course. We'd like to move on to other things now so please don't bug us for mini bike events, we're not going to do anymore.

Soapbox Safari in November
I know it's a few months
off, but We should start thinking about the soapbox
trip up to Norcal. I just want to put this out there so we can plan for it. I
was thinking we leave either Wednesday or Thanksgiving day in November, this may
exclude some people with family obligations. We'll have to figure out if we're
taking a truck/trailer and/or a rental van depending on how many people want to
go. The more that go the cheaper it will be as we'll divide the costs amongst
the people that want to take the trip.
Anyway, it's time to start thinking about it, last one was a blast.
Also, keep in mind that we'll be having the Turduckin Run at the same time, place, and channel.
We have a new patch for drivers that lose a wheel during a race. The Free Wheel'n Club is awarded to a driver that has lost a wheel during a race, these will be awarded for each time you lose a wheel, don't shoot for them though they generally go hand in hand with a Hospitalization patch.

The Livermore chapter is going to join us from some gravity thrills next month, lets give them something to write home about.
If you fail to make 3 races in a row and don't contact The Federation, We'll remove you from the list. Stamps & cards cost money....thanks.
We have Ventura County & Orange County Chapters that are open to new members, please check the links section for their respective websites so you can get involved. See the links section. After you race with them for a time, they can give the word that you can move up to the SFV races. It's a small hazing process that we make new drivers go through. We will only accept perhaps one or two new drivers a year tops.
Postcards and what they mean:
Meet point:
The address of where we will meet before the race. Notice how the course name is not given? That's because you don't need to know. The less information that is out there, the less likelihood we will get interference. We protect our courses jealously drivers, please understand.
Date & Time:
Most courses will have a the standard 6am round up time and 7am departure time. Some we will have to start sooner or later, don't assume the time is the same from race to race. What the numbers mean: If you see 6-7, that means you gather at 6 and depart for the course at 7. The first number is the meet time the second is the leave time. Best to show up in the earlier half of the hour as we hand out position cards at around 15 till we leave. If you're late, you're in the back of the pack. If you miss the departure time, you don't race. Some courses we have to wait for a gate to be opened so we will have a 6-7:30? on the card, this means we need to wait for an all clear before we can go to the course.
Special Instructions:
See Website.
This means there are some lengthy details that require explanation. READ THEM. Fail to listen or heed instructions will be your own fault. It's up to you to be up to speed on things.
Dirt.
Means we'll have at least 1/2 of the course dirt. Make appropriate changes to your car.
Street.
Most courses fall under this category. Mostly smooth street surface.
Rough.
Courses that have poorly maintained surfaces or mixed conditions such as sand or cobblestone sections.
Film.
Means Elliot will be filming. You can film every race and we'd be glad to save it for future use. If you don't want to and we're not filming, you can leave your camera at home if you wish.
Other.
Things like a magazine is coming, or rain warning. Dig?
As before:
DO NOT TEST ON OFFICIAL HILLS! If you figure out where the course is, just keep it to yourself. Don't e-mail this information or post it on a website. You can of course invite your friends to come watch, we just don't need 100+ unaccounted for people showing up to the course.
