ALL DRIVERS! NOTICE!

If you did not get your postcard, let me know. I'm using the USPS after all and they are not infallible.

Race Completed Stickers:

I'll have previous race completed stickers on me during races, if you did not get your sticker, let me know.

Driver contact info:

Some drivers have still not given me their complete contact information. If you have not gotten postcards and you want to, let me know. I have partial address so please fill me in on the details and I'll add you to the list.

Also, If you want to be taken off the list, let me know. I can save a stamp.

If you fail to make 3 races in a row and don't contact me, I'll remove you from the list. Stamps & cards cost money....thanks.

New drivers:

We have close to 50 current drivers on our roster. We are a closed camp, we won't be accepting any new blood. We've been doing this for over 3 years now and if you haven't got what it takes before, you won't now. We'd prefer it to be smaller, not larger, so the races will run smoother and safer. If you're from out of town and not on our list, by all means go form your own group. We don't need more racers, we need our current group to become better than before. I know it's lame and exclusive and I hate that but this thing won't work any other way. Sorry. Perhaps later in the season we will let some new drivers in, feel free to contact us about this. Once again, if you're from out of town you should form your own group, it's not that hard. Go to the rules section and follow the directions on how to start a chapter.

If you're nearby and want to get involved, the Ventura guys are small enough to allow open racing.

Postcards and what they mean:

Meet point:

The address of where we will meet before the race. Notice how the course name is not given? That's because you don't need to know. The less information  that is out there, the less likelihood we will get interference. We protect our courses jealously drivers, please understand.

Date & Time:

Most courses will have a the standard 6am round up time and 7am departure time. Some we will have to start sooner or later, don't assume the time is the same from race to race. What the numbers mean: If you see 6-7, that means you gather at 6 and depart for the course at 7. The first number is the meet time the second is the leave time. Best to show up in the earlier half of the hour as we hand out position cards at around 15 till we leave. If you're late, you're in the back of the pack. If you miss the departure time, you don't race. Some courses we have to wait for a gate to be opened so we will have a 6-7:30? on the card, this means we need to wait for an all clear before we can go to the course.

Special Instructions:

See Website.

This means there are some lengthy details that require explanation. READ THEM. Fail to listen or heed instructions will be your own fault. It's up to you to be up to speed on things.

Dirt.

Means we'll have at least 1/2 of the course dirt. Make appropriate changes to your car.

Street.

Most courses fall under this category. Mostly smooth street surface.

Rough.

Courses that have poorly maintained surfaces or mixed conditions such as sand or cobblestone sections.

Film.

Means Elliot will be filming. You can film every race and we'd be glad to save it for future use. If you don't want to and we're not filming, you can leave your camera at home if you wish.

Other.

Things like a magazine is coming, or rain warning. Dig?

As before:

DO NOT TEST ON OFFICIAL HILLS! If you figure out where the course is, just keep it to yourself. Don't e-mail this information or post it on a website. You can of course invite your friends to come watch, we just don't need 100+ unaccounted for people showing up to the course.

For the 2008 Season you will have to do the following:

1. Your car will need to pass a tech inspection BEFORE the first race date. This means you will have to bring it out for us to look at. Bring your car to Atomic Cycles 17322 Saticoy Van Nuys, CA 91046 open 11-6 Tues-Sat 12-5 Sun. (818) 609-0113 I can make special appointments to check your car, get in touch.  The main things we will be looking for will be deliberate weighting of the car, sharp points/edges, to see if you have tow hooks installed, and that your brakes work. Most of the cars from last year will have to make some minor changes if any to pass tech, don't worry. You have a couple months to do this, get cracking. We will be checking to see if your car is built under the new 2008 season guidelines. If you do not get clearance before race day, you don't race. Out of town races (meaning far away, not the next area code), follow the new rules, we'll inspect your car on race day.

2. Everything you need to know for next season in located in the SFVISBF rules section (second edition). Read the whole thing! Those of you that can't read, have someone read it for you.

3. For now, I'm not doing waivers. You all know the risks involved. With no spectators and the federation being an LLC, it's a moot point. This may change, we'll see.

Keep in mind there will be no exceptions. I don't want to hear you snivel about things, the rules are in place for safety and logistical reasons and they make perfect sense. If you don't like it you can always go join that "other" soapbox federation. Oh yeah, there is no other soapbox federation. Okey dokey then.....

This guy wants to form a group in Orange County. Any interested parties should get in touch.
