July 8th Re-Cap

Race Date: July 8th 2007. This time we located a course that was mostly dirt. We've wanted to do a dirt road for some time, but they pose logistical problems that make them hard to use. At long last we found one, in Burbank. Burbank is a hard town, their cops are notorious for harassing people in fact I saw some of our spectators being pulled over on the way out because they looked like they didn't belong, for shame Burbank! Anyway, we went to the race location and the gate to the access road was locked, normally this was not the case. We dropped off our cars and pulled them up to the course as others scrambled for parking spaces for their trucks and vans. When we got it all together, we had 21 racers ready for action. The gravel road kicked up some serious dust and rocks that were flying everywhere, visibility became difficult in the first leg of the race. Then we hit some paved road to build up some speed to once again plunge into the dirt and gravel that filled a hairpin turn. Cars sliding this way and that, dust filling the air as we made our way towards the bottom of the hill. When it was all settled, Ceppe came out on top, having his brakes failing and striking the guard rail. He earned his stripes, driving all the way from Modesto to come race with us! Great times for everyone involved.
